What we do not collect

CreelDex has no account system. There is nothing to sign up for, so we hold no name, no email address and no password for you — unless you email us feedback, in which case we have that email, as with any message you send. Your catch log, photos, personal bests and progress are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud. That data goes to Apple's servers under your Apple Account — not to ours. We cannot read it, export it or restore it for you.

Where your location goes

Location access is optional. With it, the app reads your position when you open Guide or log a catch — never in the background — and uses it in two ways.

Weather. The app fetches weather and pressure from Open-Meteo. Before that request leaves your phone, the position is rounded to roughly 5 km, and the request carries nothing else — no identifier, no catch details. Without location access, the app uses your region's default location instead.

Your catch log. Each catch can keep the exact spot where you logged it. That spot stays on your phone, in your own iCloud if you use it, and in any backup file you export yourself — the one exception is its map, described next. A "Save this spot" switch on the log screen turns this off, and it stays off until you turn it back on. "Remove this spot" on a saved catch deletes its spot and keeps the catch; backup files you exported before that still hold it.

Maps. A catch's map is drawn by Apple Maps, and it only loads when you tap "Show on map" on that catch. Apple then receives the map area around the spot, as it does for any app that shows a map — never the catch itself, its photo or your notes. That request goes to Apple under itsApple Maps privacy terms, not to us.

If you send feedback

Feedback goes out through your own mail app, to our support address, and only when you press send. It contains what you wrote, the photos you chose — re-encoded, with their location data removed — and a few lines you can read and delete before sending: app version, iOS version, device model, region pack and language.

What this website collects

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without fingerprinting visitors. There are no advertising scripts, no social embeds and no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

Your data, your call

Your catches, photos and lesson progress can be exported at any time as one .zip backup that the app can import again — it also holds a CSV for spreadsheets, your notes and the exact spot of every catch that kept one — and deleted from Me → Your data. Deleting your records keeps your settings, such as units and language, so the app still opens the way you set it up. Deleting the app removes the local copy; removing it from iCloud is done through your Apple Account settings, the same as any other app.

Children

CreelDex is suitable for all ages. The app itself collects no personal data; the only thing that reaches us is feedback someone chooses to email. If you believe a child has emailed us, write to the address below and we will delete it.
